Dr. Erik Antonsen Named Director of the MGB Space Medicine Fellowship
We are pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Erik Antonsen, MD, PhD to Director of the MGB Space Medicine Fellowship. Co-founded in 2022 as a joint venture between MGB and Baylor College of Medicine, the fellowship is the first GME-approved Space Medicine fellowship in the world and a cornerstone of the SPEAR (Space, Ecological, Arctic, and Resource-Limited) Medicine Division at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Antonsen is a practicing emergency physician at MGH, aerospace engineer, Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Lecturer in Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT, and brings extraordinary breadth to this new role as fellowship director. His prior service at NASA Johnson Space Center, co-founding of the Organization for Space Medicine, Engineering, and Design (OSMED), and research in spaceflight risk analysis and medical system design make him uniquely suited to lead the fellowship into the next chapter of human spaceflight.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Antonsen on this well-deserved appointment.
